Receiving Payments

Receiving payment, for most people, is clearly the most important part of the business. Cash payments come in 3 basic forms: cheque, PayPal and bank transfer. A few sites will even give you a choice.

Cheques

Firstly, as a cheque needs to be posted to you, double check that the address you have given is correct. The last thing you need is your reward going to the wrong address because of some typo when you registered.

In the UK you are able to accept cheques in foreign currency. Most likely this will be dollars. This will take a little longer to clear than a standard UK cheque. Banks will quote you something like 2-8 weeks but most should clear in about 7-10 days.

The other point to mention is that there will be a charge for paying in a foreign cheque. From most UK banks this will be about £5-8. HSBC charge £6.00 for example. If you have the option of when you wish to be paid, ie when you have reached a certain amount, you may want to wait a while to spread the cost out a bit more. Paying £6.00 for every £80 cheque instead of a £20 cheque is clearly preferable.

PayPal  www.paypal.co.uk

PayPal is a website that allows payments and money transfers to be made through the internet. It is currently the most widely used method of making a payment on the web and the method of choice for big internet names like eBay. It has an excellent reputation for being secure.

Money can easily be received into your account, as in the case of paid online survey rewards. This can be kept in your account and used directly to make a PayPal payment to another site. Alternatively, if you can verify your account by giving details of your bank account you can transfer cash amounts directly to your bank account. For amounts over £50 in the UK this is free. For less than £50 there is a small charge.

Opening an account is simple and should take less than 5 minute.

Bank Transfer or BACS payment

A bank transfer also known as a BACS payment (Bank Account Clearing System Payment) is a straightforward transfer of funds from one account to another. You will need to give your bank details to the survey website to do this. While the security implications will put some people off, this is the quickest and simplest method of receiving payment. It is also the least common cash payment method involving paid online surveys.
